How to Share and Publish Your Minecraft Maps

Making a map is only half the fun — sharing it is the other half. The right approach depends on the edition and the device, but a few patterns cover almost every case, from sending a single file to publishing for the whole community.

Packaging it correctly

Java datapacks and resource packs share as plain .zip files; the recipient drops them into the right folder (a world's 'datapacks' or the global 'resourcepacks'). A full Java map — the world plus its datapacks — shares as the whole world folder, zipped. Bedrock is friendliest of all: bundle everything into one .mcpack or .mcaddon and a single tap imports it. Getting the packaging right is the difference between 'it just works' and a folder full of confusion.

Links and QR codes for phones

The fussiest case is mobile, where moving files around is awkward. A direct download link plus a QR code solves it: the player scans the code, their browser downloads the .mcpack, and the phone hands it straight to Minecraft. No cable, no file manager. If you're sharing with a Bedrock crowd on phones and consoles, a link-and-QR flow is by far the smoothest.

Publishing to a gallery

If you want strangers to find and play your creation, a public gallery is the way: it gives the map a permanent page, a preview, and a one-click install, and it lets other players discover your work. Publishing should always be a deliberate choice — your private experiments stay private until you decide to share them.
